Jackie Karkeek at Mind in Motion (“I”) am committed to respecting your privacy. The purpose of this policy is to tell you why I collect personal data from you and how it is processed. If you visit my website you accept the terms laid out in this policy on how I use your data. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) the Data Controller is Jackie Karkeek of Mind in Motion.

Information I collect: I may collect information from you with regard to:

  • Client enquiries

  • Client agreements

This is done through forms on my website, via hard copy documents, by email and telephone. Please note sometimes calls may be recorded.

I may also collect information from you when you visit my website. This includes: your IP (Internet Protocol) address, browser type, browser version, plug-ins, operating system, geographical Iocation, and time zone. I may also collect information on how you interact with our site. For example: the pages you visit, where you have come from, the length of time you stayed on each page and page load times.

Our website uses cookies to improve your experience while visiting the site. We use a cookie control system that allows you, on your first visit to the website, to allow or disallow the use of cookies on your computer / device. You can also delete cookies in your browser. Cookies are small files saved to your computer that track, save and store information about your interactions and usage of the website. This allows our website, through its server to provide you with a tailored experience.

Why I collect your data and how I use it:

I use data collected from you to carry out our obligations under any contract entered into between you and us. I may also use data that we have collected from you (and with your consent) to provide you with information about our services that you have enquired about, or that are similar to what you have enquired about. Data is also collected to deliver relevant advertising to you, and to assess how effective that and other advertising has been. The legal basis for our processing therefore falls under Article 6 of the GDPR, namely:

Who I give your data to:

The personal data you provide will not be shared with any other parties. I do not share data with any other organisation either for marketing, advertising or any other purpose. Your data is kept by Mind in Motion for the sole use of helping to shape your therapeutic sessions.

How I store your data:

I am careful to ensure your personal data is kept secure. Data is stored on a secure server that only I use and is password protected. I maintain appropriate anti-virus and firewall software to reduce the risk of unauthorised access and where data is stored in hard copy format, I ensure this information is kept locked away safely.

Your rights:

Under GDPR you have a right to request access to the data I hold on you. You also have the right to: be informed; update/rectify; erase; object; transfer; withdraw consent; or, stop me from processing your personal data. To exercise your rights in any of these respects, please contact me using the contact details at the bottom of this policy.

How long do I keep your data for?

I keep your data only for as long as is required to fulfil the purpose for which it was collected. This includes for the purposes of satisfying legal and accounting requirements. If I provide any paid services to you then I am required under UK tax law to keep information for a minimum of 6 years.
